What you're paying for

Diamond-pad polishing, written out.

Not a wax. Not a topical coating. The diamond-pad system physically re-grinds the marble surface and brings the gloss back from the stone itself.

What we do
In scope
  • Site assessment — check marble type, depth of damage, crack mapping
  • Furniture moved + skirting protected — by us, not you
  • Crack + chip filler — epoxy fill on older surfaces, colour-matched
  • Coarse pad pass (50–100 grit) — removes scratches, etches, surface dullness
  • Medium pad pass (200–400 grit) — flattens scratch lines from the coarse pass
  • Fine pad pass (800–1500 grit) — brings the satin sheen
  • Polish pad pass (3000+ grit) — the final high-gloss finish
  • Crystallisation + sealer — locks gloss in, protects against future etching
  • Slurry vacuum + floor wipe — we leave the area clean, not slurried
  • Furniture moved back — everything reset to where it was
  • Aftercare instructions — how to keep the gloss for 3–5 years
What's NOT included
Quote separately
  • Marble tile replacement (chipped or broken tiles needing swap-out)
  • Granite, terrazzo, or stone other than marble — quote separately
  • Heavy etching from sustained chemical spill (may need professional re-honing)
  • Parquet, vinyl, or epoxy floors — see floor restoration hub
How marble polishing runs

Grit progression: coarse to mirror.

The diamond-pad system works one way only — coarse first, then step down through finer pads. Skip a grit and the previous pad's scratch lines stay in the floor forever.

Diagnose + map damage

Walk the floor, mark cracks and chips, identify depth of dullness. Decide which grit to start at — light dullness can start at 200, deep scratches need 50.

Coarse + medium pads

50–100 grit removes scratches, etching and surface haze. 200–400 grit flattens the scratch lines that coarse pads leave behind.

Fine + polish pads

800–1500 grit brings satin sheen. 3000+ grit polish pad delivers the high gloss. Each pass uses water as a coolant + slurry carrier.

Crystallise + seal

Crystalliser binds with the marble's calcium content for a harder gloss. Sealer goes on top. Then slurry vacuumed, floor wiped, furniture reset.

What marble polishing fixes

Three things you can see on day one.

Dull, scratched, cracked. Each gets a different sequence in the polishing pass.

Marble polishing diamond pad
Result 01

Dull to high gloss.

Marble loses its shine from foot traffic, mop chemicals, and surface etching. Diamond pads grind the dull layer off and bring the polish back from the stone itself.

Scratched marble before after
Result 02

Scratches lifted.

Visible scratch lines from furniture drag, dropped objects, grit underfoot. Coarse pad cuts below the scratch depth, finer pads polish back up.

Marble crack fill
Result 03

Cracks filled.

Hairline cracks on older marble surfaces. Colour-matched epoxy filler before the polish pass — the line becomes nearly invisible.

When you need it
How often should marble floors be polished?
Heavy-use areas (living, dining, hallway): every 3–5 years. Light-use (bedrooms, formal lounges): every 5–7 years. Sooner if you can see visible dullness, etching, or scratch lines — the longer you wait, the deeper the grind needed.
My marble has etching from a chemical spill — can you fix it?
Yes if the etch is shallow — we re-grind through the etched surface. Deep chemical etching (sustained acidic spill, vinegar pooled overnight) may need professional re-honing first, then polishing. Send a photo and we'll tell you straight.
Can you polish marble tabletops, counters, vanity tops?
Yes. Smaller surfaces use the same diamond-pad system, scaled to handheld machines. Bathroom vanity tops are a common job — we can do them in 2–3 hours.
During the job
How long does it take?
Single room (under 300 sqft): one afternoon, 3–5 hours. Whole-unit marble (800–1000 sqft): full day, sometimes 1.5 days. Crack-filling jobs add 1–5 minutes.
Is it messy? Do I need to move out?
No move-out needed. The diamond-pad system uses water as a coolant — we vacuum slurry as we go and contain the work zone with plastic sheeting. Furniture moved by us. You don't need to be home.
How long until I can walk on the floor?
2–4 hours after the final polish + seal pass. Heavy furniture back the same day; rugs not for 24 hours so the sealer cures fully.
After the job
How do I keep the gloss for longer?
Mat at every entry to catch grit. Don't use vinegar, lemon, bleach, or strong acidic cleaners — they etch marble. Use a neutral-pH stone cleaner. Wipe up spills fast, especially wine, coffee, citrus. With this care the polish holds 3–5 years.
